Layer Push Down

Moves your current drawing's active layer down one position in the layer stack.

1. On the Layer Panel, select the layer that you want to push down.

2. Invoke Layer Push Down using the Find Tool by searching the command name and clicking the icon. The selected layer moves down one position in the drawing order of layers. Save the drawing if you want to keep the layer's new position.

Alternative: Select a layer on the Layer Panel, hold down the left-click button on your mouse, and drag the layer down on the list.

Note: You can undo Layer Push Down using Revert or Undo. If you Save the drawing, you can no longer Revert, but you can still Undo.

  • A drawing's active layer is the layer that is currently selected on the Layer Panel. If the selected layer is already at the bottom of the layer stack, then Layer Push Down does nothing.
  • Layers on drawings are Plotted in order. The bottom layer is plotted first. The top layer is plotted last. It is generally desirable to place opaque objects such as objects with a hatch or fill on lower layers. For example, if a label is on a layer that is below a layer that has an image on it, you might want to move the image's layer down so that the label will print above the image.
  • An alternative way to push a layer down is to select it on the Layer Panel and drag it down on the list.
